NYC-based DECON director Jason Goldwatch brings his filmmaking expertise through a Super 8 camera in blink-182’s newest music video for their current single, “Home is Such a Lonely Place.” The video, following the release of the band’s deluxe edition to their Grammy-nominated 2016 record California, is now available to view on the band’s YouTube channel. The textured video highlights the artists at home and their carefree camaraderie as the bandmates prepare for their latest world tour.

Vocalist Mark Hoppus states, “The video for ‘Home is Such a Lonely Place’ was probably the easiest we’ve ever filmed. All we had to do was be ourselves at home with our family and friends, as we prepared to leave for tour. Consequently, it’s also our most personal and honest videos, and one of my favorites.”

Goldwatch adds, “My idea was to find the intimacy and honesty that was written into the fabric of the song. Blink videos raised me, and there was always a fascinating self-aware wink that held an understated genius inside of their visuals, and inside of all of their work. Shooting this on a Super 8mm captures the raw side of them, a way we haven’t seen them before.”

In the video, individual bandmates devote quality time to their family, friends and household pets, kicking it poolside over the summer months and crafting memories through the textured lens of vintage grain film. The home video-styled creation echoes the well-known sentiment, ‘home is where the heart is,’ punctuated with hand drawn childhood art for parents–though, if you’re blink-182, Crayola masterpieces may end up tattooed on the arm instead of hung on the fridge.

Goldwatch leads this endeavor after an in-depth career of innovative music video work, directing projects for such top artists as Nas, Jay Z, Ludacris, The Roots, KiD CuDi, Evidence and Linkin Park, among others. Jason has also created culture-infused branded work for the likes of Microsoft’s Zune, Malibu Rum, Google, Squarespace and Converse, to name just a few.

The band kicks off summer with a full European tour, including a 12 date headlining run through the UK. The tour continues back in the US, encompassing 2 special shows with Linkin Park at Citi Field and Hershey Park along with stops at both Lollapalooza and Life Is Beautiful.  A full listing of tour dates is below:
