Lance Acord directs ad by Highdive highlight the Wrangler 4xe’s environmental credentials

Animals and birds “sing” the music from “2001: A Space Odyssey” in a new spot from Jeep promoting its Wrangler 4xe, which premiered during the Golden Globes broadcast.

The spot, created by Highdive and directed by Park Pictures’ Lance Acord, aims to highlight the plug-in hybrid’s environmental credentials. It intersperses footage of the car exploring various different adventurous terrains, with images of the animals, including a hippo, monkey, a peacock, wolves and more. Some open their mouths to accompany the melody while others appear to provide the instrumentals to the soundtrack, such as a gorilla beating his chest or buffalo hooves drumming on the ground. In the final moments, a group of curious apes surround the “monolith”  from the movie, as it’s revealed the Jeep Wrangler 4xe is plugged into it as a charging station.

“The iconic classical music recording frequently associated with ‘2001: A Space Odyssey,’ known officially as ‘Also Sprach Zarathustra,’ is often used to introduce something big,” says Highdive’s Co-Founder and Chief Creative Director Chad Broude. “Which is exactly what Jeep and Highdive had in mind for the creative heralding the new electrified Jeep Wrangler 4xe. The 4xe is a game-changer for the Jeep brand, and the spot celebrates that ‘Earth- friendly’ excitement in a super fun way.”
