Celebrating surfcraft in all forms–from the carefree and experimental to the tried-and-true–the It Doesn’t Not Work surf riding exposition will be held for a fourth year at the Rockaway Beach Surf Club, from September 14-16, 2018. The showcase was co-founded by Picture Farm Partner Toddy Stewart, alongside S.M.A.S.H Surf’s Tyler Breuer and Imaginary Surf Co.’s David Murphy.

IDNW explores wave-riding craft and design, spanning surfboards embraced by enthusiasts and beginners alike, and including avante-garde creations unique in principle, yet made with the ocean in mind. Spawned by the inventor’s frequent reaction, “it doesn’t…not work,” the showcase represents the camaraderie felt among surfers, tinkerers, and artists consistently evolving their passions.

NYC may not be the epicenter of U.S. surf culture, but through this tight knit gathering of shapers that bring equal passions for design and surf to their craft, the local community is continuing to thrive and innovate.  This niche surf design culture in continuing to blossom through connections made through this exhibition, and will hopefully spark the next wave of inspiration in the space.
