For the latest installment in their Too Old To Die Young documentary series, Mass Appeal profiles hip-hop mogul Russell Simmons. The clip in turn highlights a day in the life of Simmons in order to provider viewers with a better sense of his unique understanding and perspective on the world around him.

Legendary publicist Bill Adler thus spent the day with the creative entrepreneur, who is also a founder of Def Jam, Phat Farm, Global Grind, and a number of other cutting-edge pop culture brands. The two gentlemen first met back in 1983 while Adler was researching an article for People magazine surrounding a new style of music coming out of the Bronx known as hip-hop.

“It’s hard to describe a typical day cause I don’t have one,” Russell admits in the video. “God knows how many businesses and how many charities and how many social and political causes… so my days aren’t typical.”
