Bicoastal commercial music company Amber Music mixes their extensive musical tastes with budding social media with the introduction of their weekly Free Music Fridays hosted on Turntable.fm.  Turntable, formerly StickyBits, is a social network that brings users together to listen to music with each other.  Each user-designed music room allows for up to 5 DJs, each of which can upload songs from their computer or choose songs from the MediaNet-powered music library, featuring over 11 million songs.  DJs get points awarded when popular selections and can have their tracks skipped when audience members rate them negatively.

Amber already connects with clients and fans alike via social media on their bustling Facebook page, which currently has over 1,100 fans.  Instead of sharing projects that Amber has worked on, they utilize their page to provide fans with “tastemaker” updates, posting recommendations of songs that Amber creatives are currently listening to.

Notes Amber Music Producer Jennie Armon, “I think individuals working in music can get transfixed on rushing the creative process and focused on how to monetize each project, instead of appreciating the creative work behind such a fun field.  Turntable (plus office fun) helps me get back to the root of why I got involved in music at all.  It’s spin whatever you want, so you really never know what you’re going to hear.  But it’s always sexy and surprising, just like Amber Music.”

The Turntable room runs every Friday from 11:00am to 3:00pm EST and boasts a variety of rotating musical tastes to launch listeners into the weekend.
