The comedian will star in Super Bowl commercial directed by Calmatic.

Comedian Ken Jeong will star in Popeyes’ first Super Bowl spot.

The chicken chain today released a short teaser that begins by explaining that one man has waited 52 years for “perfection,” and cuts to show all five of Popeyes wing flavors. The teaser ends with Jeong emerging from a cryogenic pod.

The full 30-second Popeyes ad from McKinney will run in the first quarter of the Feb. 11 game on CBS, and will also air on the Nickelodeon simulcast of the game.

The ad was directed by Calmatic, whose credits include 2023 remakes of classic movies “House Party” and “White Men Can’t Jump.” He also directed TurboTax’s 2020 Super Bowl spot. He was behind several music videos, and has made spots for Apple, the Ad Council and Flamin’ Hot Cheetos.

Jeong last appeared in the Super Bowl in Planters’ 2022 ad alongside Joel McHale. Jeong was recently awarded Trailblazer Comedian of the Year by the Critics Choice Awards. He is also set to get a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
