LA-based Third Street Mining Company Director/DP Thomas Kloss teamed with Lady Gaga for a 90-minute ABC Thanksgiving holiday special, “A Very Gaga Thanksgiving,” which aired on Thanksgiving night.

The special features Lady Gaga performing eight songs, including “The Lady is a Tramp,” alongside Tony Bennett, her own rendition of “White Christmas,” “Hair,” “Orange Colored Sky,” and several of her most popular tracks from Born This Way.

Director of Photography Thomas Kloss notes “She is an outstanding, special talent in terms of her performance – as a singer and as a classical trained piano player. She is someone who just had an amazing vision for the overall piece.”

Gaga conceptualized and directed the show, which was filmed at her high school Convent of the Sacred Heart in New York City. Gaga wanted to capture her upbringing and intermix it with performances of her songs.

Though the entire piece was produced and directed by Lady Gaga, Kloss helped her in directing the show as well as its visual breakdown, coverage, camera placement, and creative vision.

“She was very specific with every detail, from the choreographers to the audience,” notes Kloss. “Every part of the piece came together from her.”

The special also features Gaga preparing a fried turkey and waffles dinner with her favorite chef Art Smith, an intimate interview with Katie Couric, and a cute scene of arts and crafts with the third graders from Convent of the Sacred Heart.

“There are many facets of the piece and it jut shows the amazing variety of her talent,” said Kloss.

The project was presented to Kloss per Gaga’s request, having previously collaborated on the hit music video for “Bad Romance,” which was nominated for Best Cinematography at the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards.
