If there’s one certainty in advertising, it’s the fact that surprise military family reunion spots leave nary a dry eye in the room.

Cue an emotional new ad from Verizon Wireless, in partnership with the Wounded Warrior Project, just in time for Memorial Day. The spot features real military families with real stories, like that of the Baxter family: A high-school-age boy sends his father clips of his basketball games, and then his dad video chats him back game pointers. And of course there are a handful of those surprise feel-good reunion moments.

The ad highlights a new campaign Verizon launched April 27 that runs through May 31 in which it will donate $10 to the Wounded Warrior Project for each new Verizon account of active duty military personnel, reservists, veterans and Gold Star family members, along with other select perks.

The promotion comes as part of an ongoing effort by Verizon to provide support for members of the military and their families, according to a statement.
