Film Constellation boards Sundance US Dramatic title ‘The Evening Hour’ (Exclusive)

UK-based sales agent Film Constellation has boarded Braden King’s US drama The Evening Hour, ahead of the film’s world premiere at Sundance on January 27.

The company is handling international sales on the title, with Cinetic representing North American rights. The film is based on Carter Sickels’ 2012 novel of the same name, with a script written by Elizabeth Palmore.

It follows Cole, a nursing home worker whose double life as a small-time drug dealer who cares for his customers is threatened by the arrival of his childhood friend Terry Rose. Philip Ettinger as Cole leads the cast, which also includes Screen Stars of Tomorrow 2013 Cosmo Jarvis as Terry Rose and Stacy Martin as Cole’s on-and-off girlfriend. Lili Taylor and Kerry Bishé also appear.

Lucas Joaquin produces for US company Secret Engine, alongside Derrick Tseng, Trevor White, Tom Skapars, and King. After Sundance, the film will have its international premiere at International Film Festival Rotterdam on January 29.

This is the filmmaker’s second narrative feature, following 2011’s Here, which also launched at Sundance. Film Constellation’s upcoming slate includes David Bowie origin story Stardust starring Johnny Flynn; Annie Silverstein’s Cannes Un Certain Regard 2019 title Bull; and Werner Herzog’s Cannes 2019 Special Screening Family Romance, LLC.
