This year was the 55th annual Super Bowl and, as always, viewers eagerly tuned in to watch the iconic commercials. After a year of global uncertainty, many advertisers kept things lighthearted and fun, while some scored big with spots addressing the coronavirus pandemic and hope for the future.

Congrats to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for their Super Bowl victory! Scroll to check out this year’s attention-grabbing ads from top creative and production studios, including Alkemy X, Butter Music + Sound, Durable Goods, and Squeak E. Clean Studios.

Alkemy X

Minimally Invasive Surgery

Inspira Health compares their technology for minimally invasive surgeries to a playing successful game of Operation. Developed by Brownstein, one of the nation’s longest-running independent agencies, and produced by Alkemy X, a global creative studio, the regional spot showcases Inspira Health’s expert doctors and leading-edge DaVinci Surgical System engaged in a complex performance: a classic family board game involving surgical precision and dexterity.

Our Shot for a Better Future

In his most meaningful half time pep talk ever, NFL great Torry Holt inspires his friends and neighbors of North Carolina to get the COVID Vaccine in a spot produced by Alkemy X for UNC Health. The spot was out of Revive Health.

Alkemy X was excited to be a part of the first trailer for M Night Shyamalan’s latest thriller “Old,” coming to theaters in July.

Butter Music + Sound

Horses

Samuel Adams “steals” Budweiser’s signature Clydesdale horses in this spoof ad that premiered in New York and Boston. In this version, with music and sound design by Butter Music + Sound, the horses are let loose and they wreak havoc on the streets.

Durable Goods

Join Us

This commercial for Shift4 calls for viewers to join the first all civilian space mission. Directed by Bryce Dallas Howard, shot by John Schwartzman and produced by Durable Goods, the wistful ad belies the gravity of the offering–a 3-4 day trip to space–with an inspirational ode to childhood dreams to the tune of ‘Twinkle Twinkle Little Star,’ performed by British-Jamaican singer Celeste.

Squeak E. Clean Studios

5 to 9

Squarespace puts a spin on Dolly Parton’s hit 80’s song, “9 to 5” to encourage people to develop their passions in the hours they are not at their drab day jobs. The spot, directed by Academy Award winner Damien Chazelle, features a track from Squeak E. Clean Studios Creative Director/Composer Justin Hori.

Drake from State Farm

Drake joins Paul Rudd in this lighthearted ad for State Farm as “Drake from State Farm,” a stand-in actor for Jake from State Farm. The comedic spot features an arrangement by Creative Director Rob Barbato and sound design by Drew Fischer. BuzzFeed named the spot as “The Best Super Bowl 2021 Commercial You May Have Missed.”

Official Big Game Commercial

Nick Jonas stars in this spot with Dexcom, where he breaks down advancements in technology and asks why people with diabetes – like himself – still have to prick themselves with “fingersticks” to check their glucose level. He introduces the Dexcom G6, a system that can monitor glucose levels without fingersticks, making diabetes easier to manage. Squeak E. Clean handled music and sound design, with an original composition from Rob Barbato and Justin Hori.
