New York-based music company tonefarmer sets the stage for KFC’s newest “Nashville Hot Colonel” in the :15 “Nashvillemania” and :30 “Nashville Secret” spots for KFC’s Nashville Hot Chicken, out of Wieden + Kennedy. The newest Colonel-turned-heartthrob springs from the Nashville music scene and into instant stardom, made evident by his widespread retro fan base.

In “Nashvillemania,” squealing girls crouch in front of the dated black-and-white television set, chicken in hand, waiting for the Colonel to emerge and belt the hot chicken theme. “Nashville Secret” reveals another teen’s obsession: her love affair with Nashville hot chicken and the new Colonel, to the shock of her strict father.

The music in the spots captures the deep south rock-and-roll feel for the KFC Colonel. With Elvis Presley overtones, the tunes and music-oriented image convey teenage rebellion and a yearning for the new and exciting.
