It’s that time of the year again: CES 2017 has finally arrived. The much-anticipated Consumer Electronics Show (CES) is kicking off this weekend, January 5-8 in Las Vegas and is expected to set the stage for the next wave of virtual reality (VR) trends. If you have been following along, you’ll know VR and augmented reality (AR) are en route to having a repeat banner year following the technology’s success at CES 2016. Here is what to expect at CES 2017:

HTC Section:

HTC will have a designated showroom area to display the HTC Vive and give consumers the opportunity to play games and view experiences. With emerging rumors of an HTC Vive 2.0 announcement, there may also be an opportunity to take a first look at the new technology.

Considering the medium’s integration into the mainstream over the past year, this year’s panel discussions revolve around how the platform will continue to unfold and be adopted by many industries. Panels such as AR, VR and the Future of Content, Virtual Reality Transforms Media – TV, Movies and News, Expanded Horizons for Virtual Reality Hollywood’s Very Real Virtual Reality Push, The Reality of Virtual Reality, C Space Storyteller: BBC Earth, and Virtually Flawless! Makeovers from VR to AR, focus on the potential VR and AR have to impact various industries.

The panel Brand Marketers Leap Into Virtual Reality focuses on capable levels of consumer engagement and why brands should adopt the immersive medium into their marketing plan. Other panels focus on the emerging technology in prospect for the new year: Virtual Reality Head Tracking Sans Motion Sickness; What’s Happening in VR, AR and Robotics?

If you can’t get enough of VR, you can also head to the Palms Casino and Resort for VR FEST 2017, held from January 5 to January 7. There, industry breakouts will discuss VR for cinema, VR tech and public exhibition. With happy hours and an after-party, it aims to be a great place to mix and mingle with VR influencers.
