This week, Amazon released a new original series, “The Man in the High Castle,” based on the 1962 novel of the same name by renowned American science fiction author Philip K. Dick (“Minority Report,” “Blade Runner”). The Amazon series follows an alternate history of the world in which Germany and Japan won World War II, and divided up the United States into a Japanese puppet state on the west coast, a Nazi regime on the east coast and a neutral zone surrounding the Rocky Mountains.

“The Man in the High Castle” pilot was released in January 2015 and immediately became Amazon’s most-watched pilot since their original series program began. Visual effects studio Zoic Studios contributed visual effects to the series, primarily utilizing invisible VFX work to create a unique period authenticity, painting a jarring picture of just how different the year 1962 would have been in this alternate history. The Emmy-winning VFX studio handled all of the visual effects work for the pilot, and led the VFX on all of the remaining 9 episodes of the series.

The series has received critical acclaim from outlets such as The New York Times, Slate and Business Insider. It has also engendered controversy, as unsuspecting New Yorkers were not pleased to find subway trains plastered in Nazi imagery as part of Amazon’s outdoor marketing campaign.

“The Man in the High Castle” stars Alexa Davalos, Rupert Evans and Luke Kleintank. You can stream all 10 episodes HERE.
