The latest installment of ‘New Ways to Search’ by 72andSunny sees Beetlejuice’s Bob giving his shrunken head the beauty influencer treatment – just in time for the movie’s premiere – suggesting that even ghouls can glam up with a little help from Google.
As the highly anticipated sequel Beetlejuice Beetlejuice premieres tonight, September 6, Google is celebrating with the launch of a new spot in its ongoing ‘New Ways to Search’ campaign.
The latest ad introduces Bob, the shrunken-headed Shrinker from the iconic 1988 Tim Burton film, now navigating the modern world with the help of Google’s innovative features.
In the ad, Bob, now a popular “afterlife influencer,” showcases how Google’s AI-powered tools, including Lens, Circle to Search and AI Overviews, help him in his daily life.
The spot opens with Bob lounging on his sofa, magazine in hand, his face gracing the cover with the caption, “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice made me famous.” His muffled speech is humorously subtitled as he exclaims, “With Google, I’m loving my new life!”
Bob then uses Google’s various AI tools to assist with his evening preparations. He searches for “steps for a skincare routine,” and the ad humorously follows his beauty influencer-esque regimen of cleansing, toning and moisturizing.
Bob even uses Google Lens to buy a new outfit, gearing up for a “boys night” out with his fellow Shrinkers. The scene concludes with the ghouls taking a group selfie.
The ‘New Ways to Search’ campaign, created by agency 72andSunny, launched last year with a focus on showcasing how Google’s visual search capabilities can enhance everyday life. Previous ads have explored trends like Barbie Movie and WNBA game day fashion, blending cultural relevance with practical tech demonstrations.
This new work builds on the recent Beetlejuice-themed marketing frenzy, which includes CarMax releasing a Beetlejuice-themed ad last month, crafted by The Martin Agency.
Running across digital and social platforms through mid-October, the campaign aims to highlight the convenience and fun of integrating Google’s features into daily routines, all while celebrating the quirky charm of Beetlejuice’s universe.
