Each year, the Press Kitchen team takes the opportunity to spotlight a few nonprofits that we believe deserve special recognition for their meaningful work and impact in their communities. Here are some recommended by each member of the Press Kitchen team:

Team For Kids

PR Specialist Rachel Jacobs fundraised for Team for Kids this year in preparation for her NYC Marathon run with the team. Team for Kids helps raise funds to support programs for children across the U.S., including New York City’s five boroughs. These programs focus on building students’ motivation, confidence, and a lifelong desire to stay physically active.

Since its inception in 2002, Team for Kids members have raised over $100 million. These funds help cover the costs of training for teachers and coaches (most of whom are volunteers), program supplies, practice materials, and student incentives.

The Los Angeles Food Bank

Founder/CEO Virginia Scripps makes sure that Press Kitchen is an ongoing, monthly supporter of The Los Angeles Food Bank, which has been fighting hunger since 1973 and has distributed over 1.9 billion pounds of food to date.

The Food Bank collects food from hundreds of sources and, with the help of hundreds of thousands of volunteers annually and a network of more than 600 partner agencies, serves over 900,000 people each month. In response to the ongoing food crisis in Los Angeles County, where 1 in 4 people face hunger, the Food Bank is dedicated to ensuring no one goes without.

The Alzheimer’s Association

Director of Communications Amanda Drum has been a longtime supporter of the Alzheimer’s Association, which especially needs attention during the holiday season. Many elderly go unvisited, or feel left alone, over the holidays, especially when they lose their sense of where (and when) they are. The Alzheimer’s Association leads the way to end Alzheimer’s and all other dementia — by accelerating global research, driving risk reduction and early detection, and maximizing quality care and support.

Through our many initiatives and worldwide reach, the Alzheimer’s Association leads the charge in Alzheimer’s care, support, research, and advocacy. Learn more about the Association HERE.
