It reveals the full-length animated commercial teased in Ball’s first ad

Hulu’s latest spot in its “Sellouts” campaign pokes fun at the cheesiness that often comes along with kids’ cereal ads. The animated, 30-second ad features Charlotte Hornets player LaMelo Ball, hawking his fictional cereal LaMelO’s.

It’s the second Hulu spot with Ball. The first, which debuted in April, showed a brief animated ad-within-an-ad for the cereal before cutting to the point guard, eating his cereal.

The latest ad launched last week and features the full-length animated ad glimpsed in the original spot. Featuring a catchy jingle, the commercial tries to spread the word that Hulu has live TV.

“LaMelO’s, the Hulu + Live TV Cereal! Everything you could ever want to see, so many channels of Live TV,” says the jingle. “Disney+, binge your Hulu favorites too, unlimited DVR and ESPN+ for you! Lamelo brought it to you, and breakfast too, because we paid him to! LaMelO’s, the Hulu + Live TV Cereal!”

In a statement about the first spot, the basketball star said: “We had fun putting this spot together! I liked working with the Hulu team and looking forward to sharing this one with family, friends, and fans. Never thought I would have my own cereal, but if anyone knows dreams can come true, it’s me!”

Disney teamed up with agency Big Family Table and animation company Lobo for the campaign, which will run on social media and across various linear networks, including during the NBA playoff games.

The “Sellouts” campaign first launched in 2019, with the idea of taking a humorous look at influencer marketing—athletes selling out for cash—while promoting Hulu + Live TV, which now includes Disney+ and ESPN+. NBA star Ja Morant also appeared in a spot for the campaign last month.
