Super Bowl commercials upped the ante in 2017. As with last year’s Super Bowl spots, brands now more than ever “leaked” full commercials for public enjoyment prior to the big game. Between the well-known spots and teaser trailers leaving us in suspense until we tuned in on Sunday, here is a recap of our clients’ 2017 Big Day spots:

Sonic Union, “BUSCHHHHH”

Busch beer may be as “crisp and cold as a mountain stream,” but audio studio Sonic Union ensures that popping the signature can sounds far more unique than a babbling brook. The self-aware spot pokes fun at the brand name and ostentatious sound of opening a beer by merging the two together and breaking the fourth wall of typical outdoorsy commercials.

Sonic Union, “Party Poopers”

Leading up to the main event, Sonic Union also mixed a PSA regarding the worst plague upon Super Bowl parties and gatherings: the “party pooper.” Quarterback ‘Joe Cool’ Joe Flacco stars in the nearly two-minute game day teaser as a self-professed former party pooper–a reputation that all changed once he turned to the event sponsors, Tostitos and Pepsi, to save his social life. The snacks also occupied his time in ways that didn’t involve painting party-goers’ faces or breaking out the party puppets.

Zoic Studios, “WeatherTech Tech Team”

Zoic Studios, with Pinnacle Advertising and Fancy Content, delivered the “made right in America” concept for this WeatherTech Super Bowl spot. The flashy ad amps up technical features and graphics to negate a car-ride disaster: spilled hot coffee, all over the fabric floorboards. Weathertech waterproof mats save the day through a James Bond-esque rescue mission on a treacherous canyon highway.

And, of course, we would be remiss not to mention what to many is the true highlight of Super Bowl Sunday: Animal Planet’s signature Puppy Bowl.

Northern Lights, “Inside the Bowl” (Puppy Bowl)

The adorable :60 snippets — now viewable on Animal Planet’s website — were edited by Northern Lights, and deliver highlights into Puppy Bowls past and present, and offer insight into how the heart-wrenching games got their start. The videos describe the transition into HD viewing, historic naps on the quad and the ever controversial “Deflategate” of Puppy Bowl XII.
