David Tindale

Marina del Rey, CA-based production company Backyard has signed director David Tindale for U.S. commercial representation. With extensive experience as an in-house creative director on the agency and brand side, Tindale brings a unique sensitivity to creating content that is distinctly authentic to the brand message. Honing in on the tone of a brand, his reel ranges from highly visual and energetic storytelling pieces to character driven comedy that all stem from a place of emotional honesty.

“David is an extremely creative guy who delivers content that tells the most authentic story for a brand,” notes Backyard Managing Director/Partner Chris Zander. “No matter the type of project, he creates pieces that connect with the right audience. We are already seeing opportunities for him that range from energetic sports to documentary storytelling to traditional comedy/performance campaigns. And with his creative background, he is perfectly positioned for the evolving production model. We couldn’t be more excited to have him join our team at Backyard.”

Tindale has recently helmed his first three projects since joining Backyard for clients GMC, Indeed.com and Kokanee Beer.

Tindale’s migration into directing was an organic one. After kicking off his career in marketing, he began working as an in-house creative director where he often took the responsibility of directing the concepts that he crafted. After the viral success of several of his original films, he quickly caught the attention of top snowboarding brands and began directing original content for Burton and Forum Snowboards, including helming Burton’s 2012 feature film Thirteen. After committing to directing full time, Tindale created commercial campaigns and online content for such top brands as Audi, Volkswagen, JetBlue, YouTube, Target, Red Bull and ESPN, to name a few.
