New York/San Francisco-based content creation/production company Bodega Executive Creative Director Adam Reid was recently nominated for the 2012 Film Independent Spirit Awards for his first feature film Hello Lonesome starring James Urbaniak, Lynn Cohen, Sabrina Lloyd, Harry Chase, and Nate Smith. The film is nominated for the John Cassavetes Award, which is given to the director, writer, and producer of the best feature film made for under $500,000. Reid produced, wrote and directed the film, in association with Bodega’s partner post production boutique Northern Lights, led by the film’s Executive Producers David Gioiella and Mark Littman with post production by Northern Lights and opening titles designed by partner VFX/Design house Mr. Wonderful.

Reid cites the strength of both his behind-the-scenes partners and on-set collaborators as a key factor in the film’s breakthrough success.  “It really takes a village to make a film like Hello Lonesome – and, in this case, it was a very talented and generous village.”

With an enchanting mixture of laughter and longing, Hello Lonesome weaves together the worlds of six flawed yet endearing individuals as they explore those age-old human desires: to love and be loved.  Click HERE to view the trailer.

Single urbanite Gordon (Nate Smith) meets Debby (Sabrina Lloyd) online and finds their new relationship put to the ultimate test. Sassy suburban widow (Lynn Cohen) gets much more than she was looking for when she loses her licenses and leans on her vaguely peculiar but quite witty next-door neighbor (James Urbaniak) for support. And in the country, successful voice-over artist Bill Soap (Harry Chase) who lives and works in his underwear starts to make amends for being a lousy father.

The prestigious Spirit Award nomination is especially meaningful for Reid after a string of awards that includes a Jury Award for Best Ensemble Performance at the 2010 Los Angeles Film Festival, a Jury Award for Best Feature- New Visions at the 2010 Bahamas International Film Festival, Best Screenplay at the 2010 BendFilm Festival and an Audience Award for Best Feature at the 2010 Ashland Independent Film Festival.

“It hardly seems possible that a film as truly tiny as Hello Lonesome would be chosen to share the spotlight with so many amazing films,” says Reid.  “Everyone on Team Lonesome is flipping out.”

The winner will be announced at the Film Independent Spirit Awards, held on Saturday, February 25, 2012.
