CRIC

Los Angeles-based Boxer Films has signed young directing team CRIC for their first U.S. commercial representation. The Italian duo, comprised of Davide Mardegan and Clemente De Muro, made a splash with their 2011 directorial debut, taking home a Cannes Lion for the touching :90 “Because I like You” for Poste Italiane. The sentimental spot for the Italian postal service was also recognized with a Silver at ADCI, a Bronze at Italian Young Lions and nominations for the ADCE Awards and the Young Directors Awards, making the duo the most awarded advertising directors that year in Italy. Their affecting narrative storytelling is revealed through a combination of stunning imagery and a unique personal sensitivity for character and emotion.

Notes Boxer Executive Producer Beth George, “We are so incredibly excited about the level of passion and talent CRIC has already brought to their work. For such young directors, they have amazingly sure hands and we can’t wait to see what they can do here in the U.S. market.” Adds CRIC’s Clemente De Muro, “We have a great feeling about working with Boxer Films. I think that our storytelling approach combined with their U.S. production expertise will be a successful formula for many creative and compelling projects to come.”

Clem and Davide met when entering university in Milan and quickly discovered a common passion for filmmaking. Opting out of a traditional film education, the duo studied philosophy and literature to inform a unique creative viewpoint, choosing to learn their technical approach through hands-on experience. After landing entry-level jobs: Clem as a copywriter at Lowe Pirella and Davide doing director research at a production company, the duo quickly realized their creativity would be best showcased in their own collective. They amplified their skills, attending a Master in Film Production in Rome, followed by a Master in Directing at the School of Visual Arts in New York. Since launching CRIC, they have crafted spots for top international brands including Fiat, Poste Italiene, Banco Intesa San Paolo and Chronotech, among others.

The duo has quickly established a place as a team to watch in the industry, gaining attention for their character-driven approach to storytelling. CRIC sets itself apart from many Italian filmmakers, steering away from a graphic approach and embracing real life, real stories and real faces.
