BRW USA, Los Angeles signs Canadian helmer Mark Palansky for commercial representation.  Boasting a strong feature background, Palansky will be launching his commercial career with BRW USA, having only directed two PSA spots in the past.  Prior to joining BRW USA, he directed short and feature films including: Penelope (2008) and The Same (2001).  His debut commercial project is an energizing new :60 for FIAT out of Global Hue, Detroit.  A :90 version of the spot also appeared alongside the launch of the latest FIAT model at the Los Angeles Auto Show.   Upcoming work for the director includes the road trip dramedy Pete & Goat starring Anton Yelchin and Amanda Seyfried.

Says BRW USA Executive Producer Gianfilippo Pedrotti, “Mark brings a unique style and set of sensibilities through compelling storytelling, great performances and stunning imagery.  We are very excited to be able to launch him in the advertising world.  Watch out for this rising star!”  Adds Palasky, “The speed and intensity of commercials is fantastic.  It is an opportunity to utilize my creative instincts and see the results almost immediately.”

Palansky was born in Toronto, Canada, leaving for the sunny west coast to earn a B.F.A. in Fine Arts and Philosophy from the University of California at San Diego.  He began his film career working for Michael Bay as a creative assistant on large-scale studio productions including Armageddon and Pearl Harbor.  He then served as a second unit director on The Amityville Horror, The Island and Friday the 13th.  His directorial debut came in 2001 on the short film The Same starring Josh Harnett.  His first big screen splash was on the 2008 modern day fairytale Penelope starring Christina Ricci, James McAvoy and Reese Witherspoon.  Currently, Palansky has several feature films in development including his own script Voyeur with Darren Aronofsky’s Protozoa Pictures, The Beyond with Radar Pictures and Iron Jack with Sony.
