New York-based editorial house Cutting Room adds VFX Artist Nick Sasso to their roster as Lead Flame Artist and Creative Director of Motion Graphics Design.  Sasso comes to Cutting Room from Outside Edit + Design, NYC, where he was Senior Lead Flame Artist. Former client roster includes: Chase, Bank of America, BMW, Mercedes, L’oreal, Maybelline New York, Rockstar Games, Absolut, Ecko Unlimited and Kohl’s among others.  He also served as Creative Director and Lead Flame Artist on Absolut’s successful 2008 viral spot featuring Kanye West.

Says Cutting Room EP Susan Willis, ““It’s all about the people behind the machines. We have thought about putting a Flame into Cutting Room in the past but knew that we would only do it with the right person. We met Nick Sasso and knew he was a huge talent and all around great guy. That’s when the Flame was ordered and the way was paved for him to make a great new FX division here at Cutting Room. Nick has only been with us for a month and he has already grown his department in leaps and bounds. He is the real deal.”  Sasso was equally enthusiastic about their meeting and notes, “ I was looking to work with a group of top notch editors on a variety of high caliber work and they were looking for someone to take a creative lead for a new visual fx and design dept.  We are a great match and I am really excited about what we’re going to create in the very near future.”

Born in Croton-on-Hudson, NY, and a graduate of Syracuse University’s S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications, Sasso began his career in production and discovered that post-production was, “A great hybrid of both my fine arts and film backgrounds.”  He later moved on to do work as a Lead Flame Artist and Creative Director at Manic, NYC, and Berwyn Editorial, NYC. The Flame artist has also begun to expand his directorial talents, recently directing a series of viral spots for Rockstar Games and Sony PSP that also featured his editing and post work.  He has also directed and edited a spot for Ecko TV that was featured on their website as part of a viral campaign alongside the notorious, “Still Free” spot directed by Randy Krallman.  Sasso also recently showcased his wide range of talents designing, shooting and directing an animated opening for Holedigger Films, an independent film company whose films include Roger Films, Secret Lives of Dentists and Off the Map.  Outside of the Studio, Sasso spends his time spinning tracks as a local DJ.
