Mike Elliot

NY-based editorial shop Fluid has added renowned editor Michael Elliot to their roster.  Coming to Fluid from Beast, Michael was previously owner and lead editor at Mad River Post, where he worked closely with then EP of Mad River Post and current EP of Fluid, Laura Relovsky.  The duo has renewed their creative synergy at Fluid, having formerly collaborated side-by-side on a wide variety of creative projects. Elliot has cut a myriad of award-winning spots for such top brands as AT&T, Canon, BMW, NHL, Microsoft, Tylenol and Lexus, working with such agencies as Grey, BBDO, Leo Burnett, McCann Erickson, mcgarrybowen, JWT and Deutsch, among others.

Michael amplifies his wealth of experience as an editor by employing a hands-on approach on all of his work, leveraging his background as a musician to seamlessly weave audio and picture. Over the years, he has worked with top directorial talent to marry the creative concept with expert technique, advised by his in-depth background both in film technology and history. Michael rounds out the current roster at Fluid that includes Zeke O’Donnell, Jim Rubino, John Piccolo, Peter Sabatino, Robin Burchill and Heather Danosky.

Says Fluid EP Laura Relovsky, “Michael’s breadth of editorial experience, his unwavering passion for his craft and the process, as well as his track record as a mentor make him the perfect fit for Fluid.  We are excited to have him join our roster of talented editors.”

Adds Michael, “Joining Fluid is like going home. I worked for many years with Laura and she introduced me to Marc [Schwartz] and Andrew [Sherman]. Fluid has a synergy of music, sound, graphics and finishing that offers an editor like me proximity to all the elements I need and that agencies need to do the best creative work. The diversity of talent and the vision of its founders is so well timed to the current needs of creative editorial. I am so excited to be able to join a place that has found a way to bring all those elements together so successfully!”

After beginning his career as an editor of various music programs, Michael opened Mad River Post in 1989, successfully growing the post shop in its tenure to cut award-winning work for commercials, music videos, documentaries and narrative features out of its offices in New York, Los Angeles and Detroit. In 2009, he moved on to edit for five years with Beast, working with numerous repeat clients.

In Addition to his award-winning commercial work, Michael also recently cut the Andrew Douglas-directed UK drama thriller, “Uwantme2killhim?” which follows a teenage boy’s descent into the dangerous world of the Internet and the harrowing consequences of his actions.
