Many top tech companies implement philanthropy into their brand as a way to support the overall wellbeing of society. These tech startups take this goodwill one-step further by operating solely for the purpose of giving back.

Budge:

Budge is a great new iOS app that makes it easy and fun to donate to charities. The app lets people challenge their friends to a bet of their choice – they can choose anything from betting on the outcome of the SuperBowl to who can eat the most pizza. Whoever loses has to donate the bet money to a charity of the winner’s choosing.

Budge is currently only available for iOS.

Do you enjoy being active? If so, then Charity Miles is the app for you. Users simply turn on the app, choose a charity they’d like to donate to, and start. As they exercise, Charity Miles tracks their distance and how much money they earn. When the user finishes, they can accept the sponsorship and share their good fortune with others. Bikers earn 10 cents a mile and walkers/runners earn 25 cents a mile.

Charity Miles currently works with organizations such as (RED), Autism Speaks, Pencils of Promise, Feeding America, and The Nature Conservancy.

The app is available for both Android and iOS users.

The Case Foundation:

The Case Foundation is on a mission to invest in people and ideas that can change the world. “In [its] efforts to address social challenges, [the company] unites the principles of entrepreneurship, innovation, and technology to identify, test, prove, and scale ideas and models designed to create exponential impact.”

The company has partnered with hundreds of nonprofits, both private sector and corporate companies and the public sector to expand individuals’ roles in giving back to their communities.

The Case Foundation has implemented various programs like America’s Giving Challenge, an online competition conducted with PARADE and Facebook Causes that engaged tens of thousands of Americans to get involved with causes they care about.
