Pioneering independent film producer and Killer Films founder, Christine Vachon (Boys Don’t Cry, Far From Heaven, KIDS) is the latest filmmaker to grace Moxie Pictures president/KillerMoxie Management partner Dan Levinson’s podcast, Moxie Radio. Levinson’s podcast engages high-profile filmmakers in casual but thoughtful conversation and is available free on iTunes.

In the second episode, Vachon speaks with Levinson and Catfish directors Henry & Rel. The filmmakers touch on how YouTube and social networking are changing storytelling, managing rejection, the virtues of digital distribution, and for Vachon, producing the ambitious new HBO miniseries, Mildred Pierce, starring Kate Winslet, Melissa Leo and Guy Pearce.

Says Levinson, “I’ve met a lot of people in the worlds of TV, film, digital content and advertising, allowing me to bring listeners the most engaging thinkers and filmmakers in media.” Subscribers access the bi-monthly podcast gratis on iTunes.
Moxie Radio’s debut episode featured Moxie directors Henry Joost and Rel Schulman, aka Henry & Rel. After premiering to raves at the 2010 Sundance Film Festival, their documentary, Catfish, garnered huge buzz with its depiction of a stranger-than-fiction Facebook relationship and its exploration of the nature of identity in the Internet age.

For Levinson, podcast is the ideal medium to capture the amusing and revealing conversations that often arise while working closely with some of the leading creative thinkers in media. “Everybody blogs,” notes Levinson. “But I’m fortunate in that many of the people we work with become friends. With Moxie Radio, I can share the untold stories and funny discussions I have with creative people every day without adding to the already-cluttered blogosphere.”

Future podcasts will feature leading media personalities from a wide spectrum of creative disciplines.
