Moxie Pictures has signed Arbitrage writer/director Nicholas Jarecki for U.S. commercial representation. The signing marks Jarecki’s first-ever commercial representation. Starring Richard Gere, Susan Sarandon, Tim Roth and Brit Marling, Arbitrage, Jarecki’s fictional narrative directorial debut, had its world premiere at the ’12 Sundance Film Festival and will be released nationwide by Lionsgate and Roadside Attractions this Friday, September 14, 2012.

Jarecki is also represented by producer/manager Brian Young of Moxie and Killer Films’ talent management company, KillerMoxie. Young served as executive producer on Arbitrage.

Says Jarecki, “Who can forget the revolutionary short pictures of Ridley Scott and Errol Morris; trailblazers who shaped our way to experience beautiful, powerful emotions in 30 seconds. I’m extremely excited to work with Moxie.”

Arbitrage is a psychological crime thriller that tells the tale of Robert Miller (Gere), a corrupt hedge-fund manager in desperate hours. Rolling Stone’s Peter Travers hailed the movie as “First rate; a powerful feature debut boasting an Oscar-caliber Richard Gere firing on all cylinders.”

Jarecki is the director of the critically acclaimed Showtime documentary The Outsider (2005) about independent filmmaking. He is the author of the 2002 best-selling Doubleday book, Breaking In: How 20 Film Directors Got Their Start. Jarecki co-wrote, with Bret Easton Ellis, and produced the film adaptation of Ellis’ best-selling novel The Informers, starring Kim Basinger, Winona Ryder, Billy Bob Thornton and Mickey Rourke. He also produced Tyson, the incendiary documentary on the legendary heavyweight that won a Special Jury Prize at the 2008 Cannes International Film Festival.

Born and raised in New York City, Jarecki graduated from New York University’s film school at age 19. He resides in Los Angeles and New York.
