Edan

New York-based design/animation boutique Mr. Wonderful teams up with Roundhead Creative to unify the global Franco-African community through vibrant design in the brand package for the new network EDAN. The network, touted as the first Franco-African global television network, will celebrate and share Afropolitcan cultural experiences worldwide with a range of quality programming to entertain and inspire its audiences. The EDAN Network, named after its founder (Evelyne Diatta-Accrombessi Network) initially launched in Africa on March 24th, 2015 and plans to continue to grow internationally. Phil Alcabes of Roundhead Creative serves as the Creative Director for On-Air Promotions for the network launch and brought Mr. Wonderful on board to create the comprehensive package that includes network idents, promo packaging, lower thirds, bumpers and on-screen animated graphics.

Mr. Wonderful Creative Director Gary Keenan worked closely with seasoned producer and director Phil Alcabes to lead a team of designers and animators to take the static logo and bring it to life with a modern and innovative feel to create a dynamic launch suitable for a network aiming to lead the new wave of globalTV. To visualize the present-day African diaspora, the team created a series of idents and a visual identity system that encapsulated the coming together of different elements to form the EDAN logo.

Notes Alcabes, “Gary led the creative team and he came up with really fabulous design work and they were all so on top of the details in every edit. We worked well together and I hope to team up with them again many times in the future.”

“It’s a highly historic launching of a network and we are extremely proud and excited to be a part of something that has such a significant cultural importance with the potential to grow into something monumental,” notes Keenan. “We were given a lot of creative freedom and it was a pleasure to be involved in the initial launch of the network.”

EDAN will be available on CanalSat, part of Canal+, and will showcase role models as well as provide a discussion platform that taps into the universal archetypes, interests, insights on global economic changes and other topics experienced in the global Afropolitan community.
