Bicoastal/London-based Park Pictures’ Lance Acord has directed and lensed a new 7-minute short film for LACMA’s second annual Art + Film Gala, Ed Ruscha, Woody, and the World’s Hottest Pepper. An ode to one of L.A.’s most revered and idiosyncratic artists, the film examines Ruscha’s life and influences; the biggest being L.A. and the surrounding desert. Says the artist, “[Los Angeles] has some great, magnetic attraction for me.” Acord crafts an intimate portrait, introducing us to Ruscha’s dog, Woody, and taking us into his workspace and backyard where we learn of his rare hot pepper collection.

LACMA’s Fall 2012 Art + Film gala, honoring Ed Ruscha (and Stanley Kubrick), is accompanied by a 300-piece Ruscha exhibition on view from now until January 21st, 2013.
