The Loneliest Whale, directed by Park Pictures director Tom Tagholm recounts the true story of the whale known as ’52’ or the ‘Loneliest Whale’ who communicates at a frequency that no other whales can hear and so swims the oceans alone.

First heard in 1989, the Loneliest Whale has never been seen yet it has captured the imagination of the world. Singing at the unique frequency of 52-hertz, it swims unheard and unanswered by any other whale. Marine scientists, documentary makers and Hollywood movie stars have made it their mission to help this creature. It has also become a source of inspiration for people everywhere. The human connection with this creature says so much about the value we as people put on communication.

This short film, created by Irish advertising agency Boys & Girls, focuses on the people who are working tirelessly to find and communicate with this special creature. It captures the importance and power of communication and reminds us that we all need to be heard.
