Bicoastal/London-based Park Pictures’ director Chris Wilcha finds that a car can bind a family together in a surprisingly affecting new :60 “My Dad’s Car” for Chevrolet out of Goody Silverstein & Partners/San Francisco.  Additionally, an accompanying 5-minute documentary-style film is posted on Chevy’s websiteThe film and spot chronicle a son tracking down his dad’s beloved ‘65 Chevy Impala, which was sold years ago to pay for the kids’ education.  “My Dad’s Car” is one of many initiatives created to help celebrate Chevy’s 100-year anniversary.

“My Dad’s Car” opens on the son of Herb Younger, describing how his dad’s Chevy Impala SS was much more than a car, “It really was his baby.”  A super appears, “Twenty years ago Herb Younger was forced to sell his beloved ’65 Chevrolet Impala.  Today he gets it back.”  The son goes on, “He has no idea that we’ve searched for it.  It’s going to be the surprise of his life, I think.”  Next we see a family gathering in a park, where Herb plays with his grandkids.  Then the car pulls up, prompting a shocked Herb to declare, “Dear, God, that’s my old Chevy.”  “We got it, Pop,” says Herb’s other son, followed by shots of a visibly overjoyed father.  Moved to tears, Herb boards his old car and takes it for a spin.  The son concludes, “It’s not just a car.  It’s all the memories and the feelings.  It brings all that back.”  A voiceover concludes, “From fathers to sons.  Chevy Runs Deep.”  The logo and “Chevy Runs Deep” tag close out the spot.
