New York-based production company Residency Content has signed Belgian director Sebastien Petretti for his first U.S. commercial representation. Petretti spent nearly a decade working as a 1st AD, refining his cultivated visual aesthetic before transitioning into directing full time. He has helmed commercials, music videos and short films, bringing detailed art direction and refined humor to all of his work. He has worked on spots for such global brands as Samsung, Galaxy, Durex and Kyriad Hotels. His short films “Family for Sale” (2015), “Pink Velvet Valley” (2016) and “State of Emergency Motherf*cker” (2017) were recognized at a number of high profile film festivals, including the Palm Springs Film Festival and BFI London Film Festival. Most recently, he finished up a new project called “Make Aliens Dance.”

Recent work for Petretti with Residency includes a spot for Dixie To Go out of Droga5.

Notes Residency Executive Producer Gaetan Rousseau, “Sebastien has a wonderful eye for framing and brings such detail and richness to each shot, regardless of what kind of project he is working on. Having had the pleasure of working with him on a spot for Dixie and couldn’t be more excited to become a resident with us!”

Adds Petretti, “I am a storyteller. I need to be fed a diet of good scripts and the U.S. is the perfect place for me to continue that. I will always fight to shoot well-crafted films with that special attention to detail. Gaetan and Residency offer me the perfect conditions to achieve that in commercials and features.”
