The SXSW annual conference and festival Panel Picker returns with community voting live up until Aug. 20, 2023. During the community voting period, program users are encouraged to browse, comment, and most importantly vote for their preference on which panels they would like to see at the conference.

Along with community voting, SXSW staff and Panel Picker Evaluators will also have a hand in determining the content lineup. Selected sessions for SXSW 2024 will be announced later this fall.

Take a look at some of this year’s most innovative panel proposals discussing some of the most thought provoking topics from TikTok to women in sports:

How Badass Women Transform Sports Through Entertainment

Moderated by Sound Off Films CEO and Executive Producer, this panel showcases the incredible women who are changing the game dominated by men by bringing sports and entertainment together.

Engaging women behind the scenes of these stories serves to negate harmful stereotypes surrounding female athletes. Production and sports industry experts will discuss how this cooperation is gradually moving the needle closer towards equality.

How Tik Tok Made The Experts “Unlearn” Entertainment

With TikTok taking the social media scene by storm, this panel will dive into how the app has forced entertainment studios to re-examine what they previously thought would grip target audiences.

Experts within media and entertainment will examine how TikTok has redefined entertainment and transformed common knowledge within their own careers, and how the platform will continue to innovate the term in 2024 and beyond.

Women in Production: What I Wish I Knew As A PA

In this panel, women across various production roles will discuss how they’ve pulled off major campaigns against all odds, and what they wish they knew when they started out as a Production Assistant.

These women will also be discussing some of the changes in ad production brought out by social media and streaming, as well as how to break into becoming a PA and summoning creativity in times of need.

Can Film Be a Force for Change in Polarizing Times?

We are facing a highly polarized country yet everyday there are examples of unlikely relationships built across deep differences. We offer these stories of hope, courage and perseverance to inspire our civic imagination.

This panel engages filmmakers and storytellers who elevate some of these stories in order to counter the increasingly bleak narrative of where we are headed as a nation, asking the question: What if we told stories of cooperation rather than difference?
